Best lens for travel? The 24mm
I'm heading off on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Australia in the coming days and have been contemplating what kit to take.
nikon 24mm f2.8 on my nikon d800 dslr
Chatting with fellow photographer, Nigel Pugh - I was recommend and reminded of my favourite 'old' slr lens that I had on my first Canon years back. It was a 24mm.
A bit of research later and i'd bagged a Nikon 24mm f2.8. There are 1.4s out there that look amazing, but with the price tag you'd expect, I couldn't quite afford let alone justify splurging out £1700 on a Nikon or £700 on a Sigma before going on this family adventure.
In all honesty, with its wideness, I'm thinking a 2.8 is ample. My D800 lets me shoot really high iso really really well. Also, the size of it is great. A small stumpy thing, only a smidge longer than my Nikon 50mm f1.8.
Thanks to Wexphotographic and there super-speedy delivery, I had it the next day.
Time for a few quick kit-test shots on this sunny morning with the addition of a circular polarizer.
All with minimal post edit other than the odd black and white and profile calibration correction.
