Fine Dining Food Photography in Cardiff with Spiros at Cornerstone
I love shooting food on location, especially with a long-standing client - but this time, something was different.
It had been about ten years since the last photoshoot we did together (lots of other involvement) but alo has changed within Spiros’ business, and especially with the fine dining catering and event options that they now offer at Cornerstone, Charles Street in Cardiff City Centre.
Rather than just setting up the food for shooting (like some typical restaurant shoots) - we planned more of a lifestyle shoot and content day. Capturing photo (and some video) of the settings, the ambience, the vibe, the space, the feeling … essentially we wanted to capture the ‘vibe’ of Spiros Fine Dining and Events.
Like many a commercial photography shoots, this started with rounds of conversations and meetings, where we would pitch the idea and the moodboard of the sort of thing we wanted to capture. Spiros as a catering entity had grown, and so their visual presence had to elevate too - and everyone was on board to set about staging an entire scene, rather than relying on images from other photographers.
Why is this important I hear you ask? Dont get me wrong - if the odd photo from other photographers is all you can get, then great - but, their eye would have been on their client and the event - meaning they weren’t focused on showing how your catering / food business operates as a team and as a professional outfit and demonstrating scale. This was a determining factor - to show the scale of the team and how they work and the events they put on.
The shoots not only included food - but also included capturing events. Again, we weren’t ‘event photographers’ for this - as our focus was ‘vibe’ and two events (Welsh Guards / Beaujolais Day) provided the perfect settings.
As a result - I produced a full suite of people, place, food and vibe photos that perfectly complemented the core vision of the new website.
