Fashion lookbook photoshoot for lifestyle brand - bionic iconic

Creating a photostudio-based fashion lookbook is always a bit of a challenge.

On the one hand you want to show off the new products whilst on the other, you want to provide a sense of adventure and conveying what the brand is about. As a creative fashion photographer - I’m also very conscious that I don’t want everything to look the same, or ‘samey’ - at the end of the day, this is a lookbook shoot first and a catalogue shoot second. I also know the images are going to be used on the website as hero imagery (you know, the large visual images you see when you first land on a homepage of a website) - so they need to make an impact and say ‘something’.

Shooting within the constraints of the client and models also threw up a few challenges - in this instance, we shot in the evening of late November - which meant that we weren’t able to jump outside and head to several locations and capture the models and products in-situe. I always relish the challenge of a new concept, and had been working out how to use my new projector in the shoot.

Back to the brand before we continue. One of the first things I did was to fire up a discussion and get to know the brand in more detail. The lifestyle brand is heavily inspired by modernist architecture and environmental forms - this provided the perfect angle to develop the idea and use striking imagery that would be projected on to the models.

Shooting in this way is quite experimental - which also worked in our favour. A tester shoot a few days earlier provided some great results, so we were both keen on the concept and ready to roll.

Models & makeup artist booked, clothes ironed - we we were ready to shoot!
